April 15, 2011 - PRLog -- SAN DIEGO– Del Sur residents have even more new amenities to enjoy now that the master-planned community has opened two new neighborhood parks, its fifth and sixth in the community.

The San Diego master-planned community north of state Route 56 now has six neighborhood parks, each uniquely designed and all ideal for playtime and catching up with neighbors. Five of the six neighborhood parks have a swimming pool, each featuring solar panels that keep them heated, allowing residents to enjoy them all year.

“Instead of one big park or recreation center that may be central to some, but not all, Del Sur’s neighborhood parks are numerous and perfectly located throughout the community,” said Bill Ostrem, president and CEO of Black Mountain Ranch, developers of Del Sur. “Our parks are an important part of life at Del Sur, so every home is within walking distance of a neighborhood park, sometimes more than one. Parks are a valuable resource for our residents and a great source of pride as well.”

Kristen Glen Park and Old Stonefield Park are the newest parks at Del Sur.

Kristen Glen Park has a stone labyrinth and expansive grass area, both conducive to relaxation and meditation in Del Sur. The park also has a lap pool where residents may work out any stresses from their day.

Tree-lined Old Stonefield Park offers ample shade, a welcoming swimming pool and an enclosed play area with swing set. An off-leash dog area is expected to be completed next month at Old Stonefield as well.

Del Sur’s other neighborhood park amenities include:

•  a rock wall amphiteater at Haaland Glen Park, where the entire community can gather, as well as small groups of neighbors;
•  a large pear orchard and trellis at Reagan Glen park provides shade for the distinctive playground and seating area that surrounds the pool;
•  a large, colorful playground is the focal point at Mel Driscoll Memorial Park, where there is also plenty of green space around the pool for group gatherings;
•  expansive lawns, terraced gardens with seating and a central plaza featuring a giant sundial at Spreckels Park make this a central gathering place for the community. This park is ideal for outdoor lectures, community picnics, large-scale events or just letting the kids run free.

In addition to two new parks, Del Sur has three new home neighborhoods with homes for sale: Carleton and Presidio by Standard Pacific Homes and Valencia by California West Communities. All three feature larger single-family detached homes on home sites that average 5,000 square feet and larger. Prices at the three new neighborhoods start from the mid $600,000s.

New homes also are selling at Del Sur’s Sentinels by Davidson, Madeira and Mandolin by Shea Homes and Bridgewalk by Standard Pacific.

Del Sur is located in the coastal hills of North San Diego, just a few miles from the coast. The master-planned community’s two neighborhood schools, Del Sur Elementary and Del Norte High School, are within the prestigious Poway Unified School District.
