Delicious Hand-painted Cookies Add Artistry and Charm to This Year’s Easter Baskets

Christine Yocum, owner and designer, combines her passion for baking and painting to create what she would regard as “edible works of art.” Each cookie collection starts off with research and inspiration, which render rough sketches. Those sketches are then translated into a paint-able version. (Sometimes a design’s level of detail and its intensity of labor may prevent a design from making the final collection.) Each cookie can take up to fifteen minutes to produce which, when calculated, could take up to three hours to complete one dozen cookies.  Yocum points out that the use of stencils or air-brushes are out of the question. “We only use fine liners and other small brushes to paint our cookies.” When asked about painting large orders, she states that in an order of five dozen or 500 cookies, each cookie is individually hand-painted.

But get her talking about their taste, and her baker’s conviction is apparent. “First and foremost, we are committed to making a great-tasting cookie—without preservatives.
