April 6, 2011 - PRLog -- Last Tuesday- April 5, 2011 a breast cancer survivor proves that soy foods did not increase the risk of breast cancer recurrence. On past studies about eating a soy foods and supplements are need to be avoided because of estrogen-like effects that might theoretically cause breast tumors to grow. But now a new study was published about the good effects of soy foods and supplements to a breast cancer survivor. This research is being presented at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) 102nd Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida.

18,312 women who are undergone the soy diet test which shows that eating soy food did not increased the risk of breast cancer recurrence. According to Dr. Xiao Ou Shu a professor of epidemiology and medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville- "We did not see any evidence that soy intake after breast cancer increases the risk of recurrence or deaths.” Additionally, she also emphasized talking about soy foods such as soybeans and tofu but not the soy supplements. Dr. Xiao Ou Shu reviewed data from food questionnaires on the breast cancer survivor’ soy food intake.

About 14 months of the average time between breast cancer diagnosis and soy food evaluation.

Dr. Xiao Ou Shu said that “soy has many anticancer properties, antioxidants, nutrients, micronutrients, or vitamins that may contribute to its beneficial effect on health,” in addition to the isoflavones which may act like estrogens in the body.

This study was conduct to a woman who has a history of breast cancer diagnosed and a survivor who ages between 20 to 83 years old. Dr. Shu with her colleagueas is analyzed and fined the good effects of soy food to breast cancer survivor. Conclude this finding that the worries to a soy food are no longer a problem.
