March 23, 2011 - PRLog -- The tablet market is one of the fastest growing areas of technology today. So let's take a look at two soon to be released contenders in this increasingly crowded field – the Motorola Xoom and the HTC Flyer.

The Motorola Xoom is a powerful piece of hardware, the first Android tablet with a dual-core processor. It runs the Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system, the version of the Google OS specifically designed for tablets.

Having Honeycomb means that the Motorola Xoom can compete with the famed iPad in terms of display size, measuring 10.1 inches. It also features the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor, which means it is a very powerful tablet. http://www.clove.co.uk/motorola-xoom

The Xoom has a front-facing 2 megapixel camera and a 5 megapixel rear camera with 720p video capture. Combine this with the powerful processor and screen size and you have a device that is great for video calling.

It has impressive inbuilt memory of 32GB, so you can store all of your videos, music and other media without fear of the device filling up.

The HTC Flyer is a little smaller, measuring 7 inches. It is the first tablet PC from one of the biggest names in the smartphone market and as such is surrounded by much (largely warranted) hype.

The device is infinitely portable, weighing just 415g, which means it is easy to carry around and even fits into your jacket pocket.

Just like the larger Motorola Xoom, the HTC Flyer has 32GB of inbuilt storage space; it also has the capacity to double it via a microSDHC card, giving you a whopping 64GB of storage.

HTC have included their HTC Sense for tablet software on the Flyer, which customises the user experience to provide a more productive and powerful interface. A carousel of widgets puts the most important content right in front of you.

The HTC Flyer also features HTC Scribe technology, which means you can use a stylus or digital pen for various activities. This means it can work like a regular notepad and you can save words and sketches electronically. http://www.clove.co.uk/htc-flyer

If you are a business user, a feature called Timemark that enables you to capture the audio of a meeting in line with your written notes then tap on a word in your notes to take you to that exact place in the audio recording. Notes are also integrated with the calendar.

For a more social use, the HTC Flyer premieres HTC's new video download service, HTC Watch, which enables on-demand downloading of HD movies at a low cost. It's also good for gaming, being the first mobile device to integrate OnLive Inc's cloud-based gaming service, which enables you to play video games on your television.
