March 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Olde Heritage Builders, a Zebulon based home building and Realty company known for their commitment to sustainability, has announced the launch of their new web hub, Shields of Green (http://www.shieldsofgreen.com). This site serves as a resource connecting the different entities founded by the Ray family, including Olde Heritage Building, Ray Family Farms, NC Energy Savers, The Green Builder Guy, The Greater Good Network, and more.

What started in 1974 as a woman owned business by Betty Ray has grown into a multigenerational and family owned multitude of companies. “We base all of our businesses off of one core belief: to meet the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own,” says Olde Heritage Owner, Chad Ray. “Some call that the definition of sustainability and others call that leaving the world better than how one found it. Our family businesses believe in and practice the triple bottom line principal, which we define as achieving financial profits in a free market system that does not jeopardize the planet and also stands up for the social justice of all people.”

Shields of Green (http://www.shieldsofgreen.com) provides links to nine valuable resources in the sustainable  community, all owned, managed, run or sponsored by the Ray family.  Some of the most notable include Olde Heritage building and Ray Family Farms. Olde Heritage Builders is a sustainable building company specializing in certified green and energy star homes. Servicing the Raleigh, Wake Forest, Wilson, Zebulon, Wendell and Knightdale region of NC, Olde Heritage Builders & Realty focuses on bringing sustainable living to North Carolina. “100% of our homes are Energy Star and Green Build Certified through the Green Builders of the Triangle program,” said Chad Ray, owner and president of Olde Heritage Builders and past Chair Green Builders of the Triangle and the NC HBA’s Green Building Council.

Ray Family Farms is a small family owned farm located in Bunn, NC. With several generations of small crop and tobacco farmers in the Ray family, they are now combining their history with resources for the future by producing pasture raised animals from conception to consumption. Their pasture raised beef, pork, chicken and produce is available for sale at their farm in Bunn NC, and on their website at Rayfamilyfarms.com.

The Ray family’s commitment to energy conservation and sustainability provides anyone within reach of Raleigh, NC the opportunity to work with a collection of companies dedicated to supporting the green initiative in North Carolina.
