By: Charles Jones Lawyers to the Rescue founder Spencer Aronfeld said Kotler has been very supportive of the organization’ “When we asked Scott to join us at Camillus House, Scott’s response was without hesitation ‘I’ll be there,’” said Aronfeld. “Sure enough, Scott got there, rolled up his sleeves and was ready to answer questions regarding criminal law. His generosity extended beyond the legal clinic. He offered to help one individual with a case pro bono. Scott helped this client clear his record in order to obtain a job.” Kotler heads Scott F. Kotler, PA a reputable criminal defense practice, concentrating on state felonies and misdemeanors, including murder, fraud, robbery, sex crimes, drug charges and DUI's. He has tried more than 150 cases to verdict, including numerous high-profile criminal cases. Kotler served as Assistant State Attorney for the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s office under State Attorney Janet Reno. One of the busiest prosecuting offices in the country, Kotler prosecuted various crimes including misdemeanors, DUI's, armed robberies, frauds and murders. Kotler earned a law degree from the Delaware Law School of Widener University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Miami. “When we conducted our most recent legal clinic, Scott was there again, helping answer questions and taking on more pro bono work,” said Aronfeld. “Scott helped a client who was facing issues with Disability Law. He actually took the initiative to get this client and find a disability lawyer who will be able to address his issues. It is great to know that we can always count on Scott at our legal clinics.“ Founded by South Florida attorney Spencer Aronfeld and his wife Dina, Lawyers To The Rescue assists those in need regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation or political affiliation. The organization was created in response to the earthquake in Haiti where more than 230,000 people died and more than one million people were left homeless. Lawyers to the Rescue recently held a legal clinic for the homeless at the Camillus House in downtown Miami. The organization also assisted in the construction of a Habitat for Humanity home and held fundraisers for earthquake disaster relief efforts in Chile and Haiti. It also has a new student chapter at the Florida International University School of Law.
