Golden Bloom Finalist In Reverb Contest To Win Complete Eco-Friendly Tour
Voting Continues Through March 25
NEW YORK (Mar. 1, 2011) — Golden Bloom is one of five finalists nominated to receive a complete greening program for their upcoming tour by Reverb, the leading environmental organization that makes concert tours eco-friendly. Voting has already begun at http://reverb.org/
Golden Bloom is Shawn Fogel’s soaring vocals, shimmering guitar hooks, whizzing keyboards and twinkling sounds. In fact, Golden Bloom is all Fogel. Under the moniker Golden Bloom, Fogel constructs intelligent contemporary indie power pop that rivals like-minded peers such as Wilco, Matt Pond PA, and Ben Kweller. The singer and multi-instrumentalist is so fully committed to his music that when he records an album, he plays nearly every instrument himself, tracking layers of his own vocal melodies for some of the purest and most encouraging indie pop out today. Live, Golden Bloom can take one of many forms, from solo acoustic to full band.
Fogel is currently in the studio recording the follow up to Golden Bloom’s Fan the Flames (2009), which was compared favorably to Summerteeth-
Based in Portland, Maine, Reverb is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 2004 by environmentalist Lauren Sullivan and her musician husband, Adam Gardner of Guster. Reverb provides comprehensive, custom greening programs for music tours while conducting grassroots outreach and education with fans around the globe. Reverb has greened 99 tours to date.
Praise for Golden Bloom
“MAGNET is proud to kick off the Summer of Golden Bloom, mainly because this album is redolent of mid-period Wilco; lead track “E.H.M.” sounds like an imaginary b-side to “Outtasite (Outta Mind)” featuring Scott McCaughey and appearing circa Summerteeth instead of Being There.”
“…runaway single ‘Doomsday Devices.’ The remix could easily slot in well with the rest of Kindercore's stable of dance-pop bands.”--Under the Radar
9 out of 10 stars “A pop record all the way with hooks that are both occasionally obvious yet totally effective.” --Tim Hinely, Blurt
Hot New Band (July 2009) and One of 8 Undiscovered Bands Worth a Listen (January 2009)—SPIN
"It should come as a mighty surprise then, that Golden Bloom, which can easily rival acts like The New Pornographers in their power pop capabilities is just one dude. Shawn Fogel cranks out nine pieces of pop perfection, with hints of alt-country…
"[Golden Bloom] delivered one of my favorite albums of the year. Endlessly enchanting, Fogel’s ear for power-pop melodies and eyebrow-raising lyrics stuffs this album with one good song after another." --Jim Testa, Jersey Beat
