Feb. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Austin businessman Michael Cress will lead a new Advisory Board of Little Helping Hands, a non-profit organization that creates and organizes volunteer opportunities in the Austin community for young children and their families. This new Advisory Board, along with the recently expanded Board of Directors, will coordinate efforts to grow Little Helping Hands to be able to offer more events for their participants.

Little Helping Hands provides opportunities to educate young children about the value of community service while at the same time providing a fun and positive learning experience for the entire family.

Michael Cress, Chairman and CEO of MD Cress & Associates, LLC, a national healthcare advisory firm, met with Founder and Executive Director Marissa Vogel a little over a year ago to learn more about this volunteer program. Having reached a point in his own life where he wants to put his time and effort into making a difference, he states, “I have such an appreciation in the ability of Little Helping Hands to capture kids’ interest at a young age to make a sustainable impact in their community going forward.”

“We’re thrilled to have Mike join our team as an advisor. His insight and experience will be invaluable to the growth of our organization,” said Director Marissa Vogel.  Cress is on the Board of Directors for Rachel’s Challenge (http://rachelschallenge.org) and Lift Up America. Joining Mr. Cress on the Advisory Board is Octavious Bishop .  Bishop is a former UT and NFL football player, and has been active in the XY-Zone.

Little Helping Hands has also expanded its Board of Directors to further assist their expansion efforts with three new members.  Natalie Pittman, Board Secretary and a teacher at The Children’s School, will be using her skills to coordinate volunteer events.  Matt Colangelo, Business Development Manager for Convio, will be leading Corporate Outreach for funding.  Jill van Voorhis, Board Vice President and Marketing Consultant at d8 Consulting, will be leading the marketing efforts for Little Helping Hands.
