Highlights

The Dutch construction industry registered a CAGR of 5.35% over the review period largely because of the growth it witnessed between 2005 and 2008. The industry witnessed slowdown in 2009 because of the global economic crisis. As a counter cyclical measure, the Dutch government launched a stimulus package of US$ 7,500 million that would be spent over six years from 2009 to improve the infrastructure and increase domestic consumption. Demographic changes and easy credit availability made the residential construction market the largest one in 2009. However, the residential market witnessed strongest decline in 2009 because of credit tightening and low consumer confidence. As Netherlands is largely dependent on international trade, majorly with EU nations, the EU crisis is expected to negatively impact the Dutch economy which in turn is going to affect its construction industry that is expected to witness a CARC of -0.01% over the forecast period.
