Feb. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- We at Team Freedom are issuing the following announcement in order to shed light on a few matters, as well as eliminate a little confusion. Currently, due to the local social climate, we feel it best to officially place the Fort Bragg Freedom Festival (FBFF) on hold for now. While the religious, proselytizing event held on Fort Bragg entitled “Rock the Fort” was the initial catalyst for our idea for a secular festival, it was not the inspiration for a retaliatory event. From the beginning, our goal was to shine the spotlight on the women and men that serve our country every day, with a special emphasis on those who are non-religious. We openly support any and all positive secular events that increase the awareness of our shared philosophy. As such, we cannot stand behind any movement that creates a socially damaging or anti-religious atmosphere. However, we look forward to a future time where we feel comfortable promoting the Fort Bragg Freedom Festival as originally conceived. Also, please be aware that the domain name (www.FtBraggFreedomFestival.com) no longer points to our website. Therefore, any content contained therein does not represent our organization.

We also take this opportunity to announce that the organization formally known as the Cape Fear Atheists and Agnostics (CFAA), the parent organization of Team Freedom, evolved into a more illustrious organization of national recognition. We are excited and extremely proud to announce the introduction of the Central North Carolina Atheists and Humanists (CNCAH), the newest chapter of the American Humanists Association (AHA). We feel this union is the most natural progression for our group since the AHA’s philosophy coincides with that of our members. Therefore, we invite you to visit the AHA website (http://www.americanhumanist.org) where you can learn about our progressive philosophy of life, free of supernaturalism, which promotes the ability and responsibility of all humans to lead ethical, natural, and fulfilling lives. We heartily encourage everyone to also visit our website at http://www.CNCAH.org to learn more about our AHA chapter and our efforts to increase humanist awareness in our region. Also look for us on Meetup.com (http://www.Meetup.com/CNCAtheists-and-Humanists ). Check us out, and stay tuned for more details on CNCAH’s involvement in our community. Or, better yet, join us in our efforts to usher in a new and modern worldview beneficial for all.
