Jan. 27, 2011 - PRLog -- The annual Plastics Design and Moulding Exhibition and Conference (PDM11) has moved from its traditional base in Telford to the ExCel Centre in London for 18-19 May 2011. The move is designed to attract new exhibitors and visitors as well as to strengthen the event’s unique position in bringing together the best of British plastics manufacturing and design. Visitors can now register online for free entry to the event at: www.pdmevent.com

Combining an exhibition with free conference sessions, PDM is the most comprehensive plastics event in the UK and is a must-attend event for anyone involved in the production of plastic products. PDM is a vibrant source of information, education and inspiration for plastics design and moulding professionals.

PDM11 is the perfect place for plastics and design professionals to network and learn. Visitors can meet representatives from every part of the UK plastics design and moulding community including suppliers of injection moulding machinery, rotational moulding machinery, blow moulding machinery and ancillary equipment as well as automation companies, mouldmakers, polymer producers, compounders, polymer distributors, masterbatch and additive suppliers, software companies, materials testing specialists, moulders, rapid prototyping companies, design companies and other industry services.

"Following on from the huge success of last year’s seminar, the British Plastics Federation’s Rotational Moulding Group is once again working with PDM to put on a similar session,” said Martin Spencer, Chairman of the BPF's Rotational Moulding Group. “The BPF is particularly excited that PDM is coming to ExCel in London and the opportunities that this seminar will bring to interface with the London design community.”

The PDM11 conference programme – running across both days of the show - tackles a host of in-depth topics based around the core subject of design for plastics manufacture. In addition to the BPF seminar, speakers already confirmed include Mike Matthews managing director of Nifco UK, who will speak on Injection Moulding Best Practice and Richard Brown, operations director of the Hi-Technology Group, who will cover Injection Moulding for Designers. Additional conference sessions are scheduled to address New Product Development and Advanced Injection Moulding. Full details of the PDM conference programme will be announced in February.

Among the many leading industry names already booked for the exhibition are: Agentdraw, Bayer Material Science, Engel, Distrupol, Plastribution, ICO Polymers and Ultra Polymers.
“The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) and The Polymer Society are once again supporting PDM as a major event for all those involved in processing and applications of polymeric materials. In tough economic times such as these, keeping up with innovations in materials is essential to give businesses the edge,” said IOM3 Chief Executive, Dr Bernie Rickinson.

“The IED is taking part in PDM11 as the showcase event for plastics design in the UK,” said Libby Brodhurst, chief executive of the Institution of Design Engineers. “We are very pleased to continue our support of the event and look forward to engaging with the wider audience the new location and associated events will bring.”

Visit www.pdmevent.com for more information and for travel advice on getting to PDM11 at the ExCel Centre via car or public transport.

PDM11 is co-located at the ExCel Centre with a unique new event dedicated to industrial design: the Product Design + Innovation conference (www.pdesigni.com). Featuring expert speakers from brand owners and leading design consultancies, the two-day Product Design + Innovation conference will set the innovation agenda and explore opportunities for growth through themes such as sustainability and open innovation. It will look at how to communicate the value of design to business and government as well as how best to protect and maximise value from intellectual property. Covering every aspect of the business of design, the conference will also consider client relationships, examine brand owners' strategies and explore how innovation generates growth. The programme will feature product design in consumer, medical, telecoms, automotive and aerospace applications.
