Follow on Google News | Award-winning Artist, Dustin Van Wechel, Launches New Fund Raising Campaign For Major Art ProjectThe Glacier National Park Project is a three-week artist's expedition into one of the most remote and natural of America's National Parks to document the awe-inspiring landscape and wildlife through his own artistic interpretation.
By: The Art of Dustin Van Wechel "This project is an opportunity to better connect with my subject matter so that I might produce my most comprehensive, reflective and personal body of work to date", says the artist. Spanning the following year, Dustin Van Wechel will be creating 20 to 30 new studio paintings inspired by his time in Glacier National Park. All of the studio paintings as well as paintings completed on location while in Glacier, sketches, photographs and his daily journal entries will then be compiled into a new art book. The Glacier National Park Project completes with a major exhibition and sale in 2012. In February of 2002, Dustin Van Wechel left a successful eight-year career in the advertising industry to pursue his true passion, fine art, full-time. Since then, Dustin has won numerous awards including the prestigious 2004 Wyoming Conservation Stamp Art Competition, the Wildlife Award and Teton Lodge Company Award at the 2006 Arts for the Parks competition, and he's received honors in several leading art publications as The Artist’s Magazine, The Pastel Journal, and Drawing Magazine. His work has been exhibited all throughout the U.S., including one-man shows and major art exhibitions including in the National Museum of Wildlife Art's Western Visions show in Jackson, Wyoming. Dustin is a signature member in both the Society of Animal Artists and the Pastel Society of America. He and his wife, Yvonne, currently reside in Gilbert, Arizona.
