Jan. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- VOORHEES, N.J., – Gary Frisch, founder and president of South Jersey public relations agency Swordfish Communications, has been named a runner-up for the Voorhees Breakfast Rotary’s Business Person of the Year honor. He will be recognized at the Rotary’s annual Community Service Awards Dinner Jan. 27 at Venice Plaza in Berlin.

In honoring Frisch, a Voorhees resident and 21-year veteran of the public relations industry, the Breakfast Rotary cited his personal and company’s many contributions to the local community. Frisch serves as a volunteer on the fundraiser golf committees of both the Alzheimer’s Association Delaware Valley Chapter and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society South Jersey Chapter. Swordfish Communications also provides pro bono public relations services to the Alzheimer’s chapter.

As a member of the Voorhees Playground Committee, he was instrumental in designing, organizing and publicizing, then building, the township’s “community build” of a state-of-the-art playground in October, 2010. Frisch also volunteers at Thanksgiving to serve meals to the disadvantaged at My Brother’s Keeper, a Christianity-based homeless shelter in Camden, N.J. In 2008, Frisch sacrificed his body by taking a “polar bear plunge” in frigid waters, raising more than $1,000 for the Cathedral Kitchen soup kitchen in Camden.

An active member of the Voorhees Business Association and the Marlton Business Association, Frisch helped the latter organization deliver hot meals to elderly residents this past Christmas Day.

“It’s truly an honor just to be nominated for recognition by a wonderful organization like Rotary,” says Frisch. “Giving something back to the community is something I recommend all my clients do, so I’m simply practicing what I preach.”
