Jan. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- The music from gospel choir, Soulful Praise, will resound throughout the grounds of Barrington Hall as part of the Roswell Roots celebration on Saturday, February 12 from 3:00 – 4:30pm. This ambitious group of high school students performs frequently throughout Cobb and Fulton County with an inspirational and spiritual repertoire. Founded in 2005, the choir is an outlet for musical expression and education in the genre of gospel music and consists of students from Pebblebrook High School in Mableton, Georgia. This unique part of Americana began in the 1930’s with the marriage of sacred music and text to the rhythms of jazz and blues by native Georgian, Thomas A. Dorsey, known as the father of gospel music. No longer bound by non-secular restriction, gospel music captures the spiritual and creative imaginations of an international and diverse audience. Soulful Praise is led by director Evelyn White, a collaborative pianist and piano lab coordinator at The Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts at Pebblebrook High School.

Soulful Praise will perform on the back porch of Barrington Hall beginning at 3:00pm on Saturday, Feb. 12. Visitors are invited to bring chairs or blankets and enjoy the concert either before or after a tour of the home. The concert is free and open to the public.
