Follow on Google News | Get Defensive on the Road With DriveSafe Driving SchoolsDriving School Now Hosting Classes to Help Drivers Think Defensively on the Road
By: DriveSafe Driving Schools “Many drivers don’t realize that many hazardous driving situations and accidents can be avoided simply by driving defensively on the road,” said Ben Baron, owner of DriveSafe Driving Schools. “Our class will help anyone, especially teens and drivers new to Colorado, drive more defensively and safely, especially during the winter season.” The DriveSafe Driving Schools Defensive Skills Day puts drivers who are new to hazardous road conditions through a number of driving scenarios in a safely controlled manner. Driving in a wide-open parking lot, driving students learn how to control a car in a skid; how to control the car while driving fast around a curve; how to drive in reverse; and they even get to experience the danger of driving intoxicated by wearing special vision goggles. “We want teens to understand that driving fast or driving intoxicated puts them at risk for accidents and injuries,” Baron said. “We give them the experience in a controlled area so they understand the danger of ever doing it again.” Along with learning about hazardous driving, drivers of any age can also get some handy tips about maintaining their vehicle in a safe manner. They learn how to check fluids, change tires and keep their car in top safety condition. Defensive Skills Day is perfect for every level of driver – from the newly permitted or licensed teenage driver to drivers who are unfamiliar with Colorado’s harsh winter road conditions. “It is a great course for people of all ages who are not familiar with driving in snow and ice conditions,” Defensive Skills Day takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 22 at Lakewood Driving Range, 540 Kipling Street next to Jeffco Stadium. A limited number of spots are available for this course and the tuition is $209, which includes lunch. The course alternates between Lakewood Driving Range and Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch. A total of 18 sessions are held throughout the year. The next Defensive Skills Days at Lakewood Driving Range will take place on February 26 and March 26. The next course at Mountain Vista High School is on April 9.
