Windermere, Florida: Several career politicians are lining up to take on U.S. Senator Bill Nelson in 2012. Alexander George is not one of them. George, an executive sales manager based in Orlando, feels that he can wrestle the Republican nomination away from establishment candidates.

George has been involved in several campaigns, starting with Bob Dole’s run for the presidency in 1996. “I’ve always been politically active, and am proud to be a Republican”, said George during his Lakeside Kickoff Party today, “but have always supported the best candidate”.

He cited his active support and involvement with Stephan Murray’s (D- Winter Park) bid to unseat entrenched Republican U.S. Congressman Ric Keller in 2004. “Looking back, Ric was running for his third term, and was already in the pockets of several strong lobbyists...” said George. “Murray is a man of honor and had a chance of taking Ric out. I jumped on the bandwagon of the man with integrity.”

George predicts that there will be at least “ten to fifteen” people in the Republican primary. “Floridians are ready for a U.S. Senator that does not answer to special interest groups. I am here to represent you, not the lobbyists! Can you hear us Mr. Nelson?!” He went on to summarize his support for smaller government, the right to bear arms, and conservative healthcare reform.

“I am a strong supporter of terms limits. Members of the U.S. House should be restricted to four 2 year terms, and members of the U.S. Senate should be capped at two 6 years terms.” George said that this is the only way to eliminate the “buddy-buddy” system that exists in Washington D.C.

Alexander George is the second Republican to officially declare his intention to unseat Mr. Nelson. He follows former gubernatorial candidate, Michael E. McCalister, who announced in mid fall. Mr. George vowed to take his campaign to “every citizen in Florida”. The speech was followed by a champagne reception and a meet & greet.
