Jan. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- Shelley Joy believes that every child is born with a full and perfect bucket. Even in the best of situations, over time the bucket may become pitted with tiny holes from little stings, words, abuse, or situations that a child has no control over. Some children are born with disabilities, physical or mental challenges; and some as young as preschool begin to feel that difference and begin to worry that they are different. That bucket once perfect and full begins to spring leaks and it is difficult to keep the bucket full.
A “bucket-filler,” Little Bird You Are Perfect, written by Shelley Joy and beautifully illustrated by Richa Kinra, was released in November and aims to keep a child’s bucket perfect and full. A special education teacher writes of Little Bird You Are Perfect  “…I was delighted to come across this book to read to my students. The illustrations are beautiful and engaging as well as the story itself. While reading I simply sat back and shared, allowing myself the joy of taking in what my students were thinking and feeling. One of my little girls with Asperger's Syndrome replied with joy as she said, 'Hey Mrs. S. that's just like us!' This book is a delight for all children but it especially spoke to the heart of a child who feels they are 'different!' “

A healing book for adults and a positive affirmation fairy-tale for children, Little Bird captures the positive nature of children everywhere. Shelley Joy believes that there is a bit of “Little Bird” in each of us, and that there are times that we doubt our own perfection that we are the best “me” we can be based on others’ perception of who we are, making this enchanting children’s tale, a classic for children of all ages. Different is extraordinary and perfect!

Little Bird awakens to a perfect day. It is going to be his first real taste of the real world and he is so excited! What he finds during his adventure, is something entirely different. His excitement about his perfect day turns to sadness when he realizes that he is different from all of the other birds he encounters and is reminded of his differences by a group of more grown up birds who teased him. A visit by Native American Sorceress Kanka, changes Little Bird’s outlook on himself as he gazes into the pools of her eyes and he sees himself as the Great Spirit sees him, perfect in every way! Just like Little Bird, YOU are perfect too!
