Van Riper and Nies, a Veteran-Owned Personal Injury and Criminal Defense Law Firm With Offices in Florida Announces that it Will Offer Discounted Legal Fees for all Military Veterans and Active Duty Service Members in 2011.
By: Timothy C. Nies, Esq.

Dec. 31, 2010 - PRLog -- Van Riper and Nies Partner, Timothy Nies, a former U.S. Army Ranger with the elite special forces unit, the 75th Ranger Regiment, who was injured in the line-of-duty during a parachute mission with the Rangers, states: "as a military veteran, and lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), I see first-hand the struggles of military veterans, especially disabled veterans, and active-duty personnel in making ends meet in this economy. Oftentimes,  veterans have difficulty finding work, or are often unable to work because of a disability, and are unable to put money away because they live on a small fixed income." Therefore, the firm announces that in 2011, it will offer significant disounts on fees for veterans and all active duty personnel, for all criminal defense, family law and hourly civil litigation cases.

While serving as an Airborne Ranger with the 3rd Battatlion, 75th Ranger Regiment, based in Fort Benning, Georgia, Timothy sustained a knee injury, which required multiple surgeries. "I consider myself lucky - I was able to walk again thanks to his U.S. Army orthopaedic surgeon, Major Francis Moll, who incidentally now practices in South Florida. Thanks to the GI Bill, I was able to attend law school shortly after my medical discharge from the Army. Many other veterans are not so lucky and sustained very serious injuries, especially during the past seven years of war. I speak with the veterans whenever I visit the VA Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida. They do not have it easy. In 2011, a 100% disabled veteran, such as a completely blind veteran or a veteran suffering from severe PTSD, receives a mere $2,673 per month to survive. Providing significantly reduced legal fees, and payment plans, for veterans who need help in family law matters, criminal defense matters, and other hourly-based civil litigation is very important to my partner, Christian Van Riper and me."

Timothy Nies, a former senior casualty trial attorney for the largest insurance defense firm in the U.S., heads the firm's Personal Injury, Maritime Injury, and Civil Litigation Practice Groups. See: http://vanriperandnies.com/Personal_Injury_Lawyers_FL.html.  Timothy recently was the guest speaker on veterans affairs at Nova Southeastern University. He is also one of only a relatively small group of attorneys nationwide helping military contractors, who are often military veterans, seriously injured in Iraq or Afghanistan under the Defense Base Act. See www.defensebaseactlawyers.com.

His cousin, Christian Van Riper, a former Florida prosecutor, leads the firm's state and federal criminal defense and DUI defense practice groups. See http://vanriperandnies.com/Criminal_Defense_Florida.html.

To qualify for the discounted legal fees, military veterans and active duty, whether a Soldier, Marine, Sailor, Airman or Coast Guardsman, merely needs to mention the discount when setting an appointment, and bring with them a DD-214, a Veterans Administration ID, a military ID, or some other paperwork documenting their service to our country.

The attorneys understand that it is sometimes difficult for disabled veterans to make it to the office. Attorneys Timothy Nies and Christian Van Riper will gladly visit all disabled veterans at their home, hospital or any other location.
