The Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment Act of 2010  (HIRE Act), signed into law by President Obama on March 18, 2010, extended many of the tax benefits of the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009 related to expensing certain purchases of SUV's, trucks and vans in 2010. In summary, the act states that taxpayers that own and use commercial vehicles in a trade or business -- professionals, small business owners, and others -- can deduct the cost of such property through asset depreciation deductions on their tax returns.

Richmond GMC and Buick shoppers may be eligible for a $25,000 deduction expense if they have purchased or purchase any of the following GMC vehicles in 2010; Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL and Yukon Denali, GMC Envoy Denali, Chevrolet Avalanche, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Traverse, Chevrolet Suburban, Cadillac Escalade (all), and Cadillac SRX Crossover.

Richmond GMC and Buick shoppers may be eligible for 50% bonus depreciation on the following vehicles; GMC Sierra, GMC Savana Cargo Van, GMC Savana Passenger Van, GMC TopKick, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Express Cargo Van, Chevrolet Express Passenger Van, and Chevrolet Kodiak.
