Dec. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Operation: Christmas Kong, a fundraising event sponsored by six websites, has achieved the first of its goals and will be delivering the first part of their fundraising efforts to the Conley Family of North Branch, Mich.

On Dec. 13, the Conley’s house was destroyed in an accidental fire.  Unfortunately, despite the efforts fo the firefighters, nothing was saved from the home and nothing was left once the fire ran its course.  Everything was lost, but the lives of the five-member family.  Included in that loss was a young gamer’s favorite toy: his Nintendo 64 and Donkey Kong game.

One of the writers for Hard4Games heard about the fire and what had happened to the four year old’s game system.  Realizing that something could be done for the family he approached another journalist for another game site.  From there, Operation: Christmas Kong was developed with the goal to raise at least $500 for the family to purchase a Christmas gift for the child.Their max goal was $1,000

EOGamer.com, Girlgamer.net, Hard4Games.com, ObsoleteGamer.com, UOForums.com, and UOHomeDecor.com teamed together to advertise the fundraiser and work together to turn would could be a bad Christmas for the family into a good one.

Fundraising began Dec. 14.  Within 24 hours, more than $300 was raised.  By Dec. 18, more than $600 was raised, enough for the following Christmas gifts to be purchased for 4-year-old Rylee Conley:

   * Limited Edition Wii (The 25th Edition Red One)
   * Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii
   * 3 Wiimote + Chuk bundles
   * Wii Charge Station Quad
   * 2 Donkey Kong related stuffed animals

The gifts are to be delivered to the family, who know nothing of this fundraiser, tomorrow, Dec. 23.  Donations are being accepted until Dec. 27 and remaining funds will be delivered to the family via certified mail in the form of a pre-paid Visa to help the family with expenses they will acrew in rebuilding their home and lives from this devastating event.
