Dec. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Coach Lou Kristopher, founder of sport performance and fitness program Blueprint Athletic Performance, is pleased to announce the Sweet Mahogany Fitness Bootcamp Fundraiser to be held on Saturday, December 18th at Van Asselt Community Center in Seattle, WA.

Kristopher is taking his desire to give-back and spinning the idea of bootcamp fundraising on its ear by organizing a charity workout featuring his unique Lean and Strong bootcamp program to benefit the Sweet Mahogany Drill Team. The event will be a 45-minute boot camp workout and fundraiser open to the public with 100% of the proceeds going to Sweet Mahogany.

The Sweet Mahogany Drill Team is a community service organization created for young ladies throughout Washington from ages 6-18 years and primarily serves Seattle, Renton, and Kent. Founded in 1986 by Denise Brown their mission is to foster a positive environment where girls from all different backgrounds and cultures can enhance their creativity through physical activity. Over the past 24 years “...we have performed at various local events including the Seafair Torchlight Parade, Northwest Harvest, and the Annual Lupis Walk,” says Larissa Jackson, director of Sweet Mahogany. They have also traveled nationally to perform in Portland, Disneyland, Disneyworld, and internationally in Canada. More information can be found on their website: http://www.sweetmahoganydrillteam.com/

Raising funds is very important for the drill team. They are used purchase critical supplies for Sweet Mahogany such as banners and uniforms for parades. “Funds are also used to provide much needed scholarships for girls in financial need so they are not denied the opportunity to participate with the team...” says Jackson. Jackson also says Sweet Mahogany has plans to travel more in 2011 in order to, “...give the girls an experience outside of Washington...,” an experience they can use to think beyond their current boundaries.

The fundraising event will take place from 10am to 12pm on December 18th at the Van Asselt Community Center in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle. We will use a modified form of the metabolic circuits used with my sport performance clients so everyone at any level of fitness can have fun and a positive experience with what it takes to get their best shape. It will be a perfect combination of cardio, strength training, and flexibility work. Saying the word “bootcamp” typically triggers images of either overbearing drill sergeants or pink dumbbells and yoga mats, two opposite ends of the workout spectrum. One is typically unpleasant and uncomfortable. The other is too easy and ineffective. However, the Lean and Strong Bootcamp system is nothing to be afraid of: “Our main focus is to support motivated individuals create a lifestyle contributing to long-term physical, emotional, and social growth all while boosting self-confidence in the process,” says Kristopher.
