Nine Not to Be Missed Weekend Events

The Red Bank, NJ area is full of fabulously festive Holiday events this weekend. Here's how you can fit them all in.

Dec. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- You’ll want to stick around this weekend to partake in the host of happening holiday activities in our area.

Saturday:

1) Wake Up. Get the kids ready and head over to a Jingle Jangle Breakfast:  Have breakfast with Santa while listening to Music with Miss Sherri and the Little Animal Band of Honey Child Music. River Edge Café of Red Bank is hosting a buffet breakfast with this 'super rockin' children's concert,' goodie bags and a visit from Big Red himself.  Dec. 4 from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM.

2) Cruise over to the Manalapan Library to enjoy a Holiday Family String Concert.  At this  festive holiday concert by the New Jersey State Youth Orchestra, you'll hear music by Beethoven, Bach and Vivaldi and a rousing rendition of Eye of the Tiger. Youngsters will have the opportunity to participate in a Hands-on Strings experience and interactive session with these talented students. Dec 4 from 1:00 PM -1:45 PM.

3) Hurry Up, You Can make it!  Candy Making at Long Street Farm. Jerry Smith will be visiting the farm’s out-kitchen and demonstrating the art of candy making. Using mild recipes passed down from his family, Jerry will be creating tasty chocolate delicacies. Fee: FREE Dec. 4 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.

4) If you can,  rush over to Red Bank for a festive Horse & Carriage ride.  Take a tour of Red Bank the old fashioned way. Your kids will be thrilled and you can’t beat the price (free!). Downtown Red Bank Saturday and Sunday between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

OK, you can’t do everything. Choose from one of these shows:

5) Winter Wonderland Show: Check out the great acts at The Middletown Arts Center  this Saturday! This variety show will feature fun, holiday numbers that are sure to entertain the whole family. FEE: $5  Saturday, Dec 4 from 2:00 PM -3:30 PM.

6) The Night Before Christmas: The Paper Moon Puppet Theater is performing this holiday favorite.  Kids can cozy up on the floor and get close ups of the stage and puppets as they are enthralled with this classic tale. Fee: $9 Saturday, Dec 4: 2:00 PM FEE: $12 per ticket

7) Gingerbread Building Workshop: This unique gingerbread house workshop is being taught by Marie Jackson, owner of The Flaky Tart (that’s reason enough to stop reading and reserve your spot now.) This three time James Beard Nominee (who has three young kids of her own) will conduct a tasty two-hour workshop on Saturday from 4:00-6:00 in Rumson’s Bingham Hall. FEE: $60 per house (each family builds one house together).

Sunday

After running around with the kids all day Saturday, spend Sunday relaxing by taking in one of these two shows.

8) A Christmas Carol: Enjoy this performance at The Count Basie Theater on Sunday from 3:00 PM- 6:00 PM. FEE: $25-$45. Or check out The Pollack Children’s Theater’s version: A Winnie The Pooh Christmas Carol. Sunday, Dec. 5 at 2:00 PM FEE: $12

Top off the weekend, with this delightful, family friendly and festive affair.

9) Middletown Tree Lighting: Take the kids to this special tree lighting at Middletown Arts Center. Not only will you hear a performance from the Tuba Christmas, but you'll have some great photo ops with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Hot cocoa and crafts, too! Sunday, Dec 5 from 5:00 PM to 8:00PM

Put the kids to bed. Pass out.
