New Items Added To Nowell's Online Auction To Benefit Cancer Research at Duke

Nov. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- (CARY, NC) – BDI, a leading manufacturer of contemporary home theater furniture, has donated three high-end audio-visual stands to the online auction that is going on now on the Nowell’s Contemporary Furniture website (www.nowellsfurniture.com) to benefit “Nowell’s Fund To Fight Multiple Myeloma.” One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit multiple myeloma research at Duke Medicine.



Nowell’s owner, Jerry Nowell, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma earlier this year. The store has been holding annual holiday fundraisers for various charities for several years, so this year Nowell decided to commit his efforts to benefit cancer research at Duke Medicine.



“BDI is proud to support Jerry Nowell and others in the quest for a cure for multiple myeloma,” said Steve Feldman, Director of Sales for BDI.



The auction began November 8 with nine pieces of furniture that Nowell’s supplied for NBC 17’s “My Carolina Today” set, including side chairs, barstools, a cocktail table, area rug and sideboard. The BDI pieces have now been added to the online auction. Bidders can click on images of the pieces for more information then place their bids on the site. The auction will continue through December 31st. “Buy It Now” prices are also listed for each item.



Multiple Myeloma is an incurable cancer of the plasma cells in bone marrow. It is diagnosed in approximately 20,000 new patients every year in the US, and the illness claims the lives of nearly half that number annually.



Along with the online furniture auction, Nowell’s will soon announce an in-store fundraiser as well.
