New York Public Library Strikes The Right Keys For Its Guest With Typewriters

Nov. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- New York, New York – New York Public Library strengthens it’s commitment to the community by providing the use of Typewriters to its constituents. People requiring the services of a typewriter to complete job applications and other vital personal documents that are not available on-line are now utilizing typewriters provided by the New York Public Library to facilitate this task. Key officials are seriously contemplating the use of typewriters system wide to better serve the community.

“With the strain that the economy is placing on city services across the board, this is a good thing for the people of the city of New York who otherwise wouldn’t have this available to them” said Mike, a frequent guest of the Library and benefactor of its services. The Library already provides free computer use and on-line access thru their computers and laptops as well as internet access to people with their own laptops.Unfortunately everything cannot yet be performed on a computer, therefore typewriters are still an essential part of life for the general population. Because of the forward thinking Library administration, initiatives are being taken to continue to provide the use of typewriters in some of their branches currently, with an eye on expanding the service when and where it’s possible.

The NYPL has a long and storied history of service to the people of the city of New York, providing not only books and periodicals, but other services too such as hosting SCORE, an organization that provides mentoring of and offers small business planning and advice to people that could not afford to retain an accountant or an attorney for such as service. The Mid-Manhattan branch has numerous cultural programs weekly such as films, guest authors speaking about their latest publications, as well as an extensive children’s section. Every effort is taken by the NYPL to not only provide basic services, but to also help provide and hopefully establish a sense of community with the people that utilize it’s services.

The administration and staff of the Library system is working hard with the City, State and the people to continue to maintain the high quality of services that it is known internationally. To continue to provide services to it’s guest in spite of the challenges that this present recession is providing remains it’s number 1 daily focus. With the demands of the community that the NYPL serves becoming greater, it is a delicate balancing act that must be done to perpetuate the quality and amount of services all while working hard to keep the doors of the Library open in all of the communities that it services.
