Introduction to Copper Fold-Forming and Advanced Open Studio: A November Workshop to Remember

Copper Fold Forming meets the holiday spirit in this combined introductory workshop and open studio invitation for workshop alumni at the Center for Metal Arts in the restored Icehouse in Florida, NY.

Nov. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Copper fold forming is a new way of working with metal sheet to create three-dimensional forms, and the technique has spread worldwide among designers, sculptors and jewelers. Ed Mack will lead the workshop from 10 AM to 2:30 PM on Saturday November 20, 2010, where beginners can learn a series of fold-forming techniques in copper, using the torch, hammer and anvil. The results are quick and gratifying, and lead readily to new design ideas in jewelry, mixed media, or just fun objects for the home or garden. This workshop is a great choice for experimenting with new design ideas, for jump-starting creativity—or just for an enjoyable balance to the work week.play with the jewelry-like and botanical forms that copper can take in fold-forming, and take home the interesting pieces.
 .
For alumni of previous fold-forming workshops, the Center for Metal Arts is opening the studio stations for a Fold-Form Open Studio Day during the Intro class.  Alumni are invited to play with the forms they already know, take forms in new directions, or try out a new form from the samples and process boards.

There are six basic fold-forms known, and each one can be taken in many directions. It is entirely possible to form something that has never been done before. Make some gift pieces for the holidays--garden or tree ornaments, a cuff bracelet or pendant. As a holiday gift to returning students, the Center for Metal Arts is offering a 15% discount for studio time.

The workshops at the Center for Metal Arts are on a first-come basis, with limited seating to give everyone their own work station.  Click http://www.centerformetalarts.com for all the details, and for easy online registration, or call the studio for more information.
