Boys Competitive Team at a Gymnastics Club in Rhode Island Shine at Regional Future Stars

Seven Male Gymnasts of Aim High Academy Compete at Regional Gymnastics Evaluation, One Qualifies for Nationals

Oct. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Aim High Academy of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, a leading youth activity, arts, athletic and educational center, is pleased to announce today that seven male gymnasts competed at the gymnastics regional Future Stars evaluation, which was held on Sunday, October 11, 2010.  Aim High Academy further stated that one male gymnast qualified to compete at the national Future Stars evaluation meet, which is scheduled for November 2010 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Future Stars is an athlete development and education program by USA Gymnastics. The future stars program consists of 6 age groups (8-13 years old), who perform selected skills and compulsory routines in the six men’s events plus strength, flexibility and trampoline.  The goal for the future stars program is to have all athletes work to a very high level of execution and technical refinements in all of their skills.  Excellence in basics, skill refinement and physical preparation are the minimum standard for this program.

Gymnasts competing from Aim High Academy included Griffin Silver and Collin McSparren, both age 7; Isaac Tracy and Thomas Andrews, age 9.  As a result, all four of these young athletes earned a place on the Regional Development team.

In addition, Aidan Cuy, age 9, was evaluated at the age 10 level; and Vasilios Meltsakos and Dylan McSparren, both age 11,  competed and performed very well at the regional evaluation.  Plus, Dylan McSparren qualified to compete at the Future Stars national championships next month.

“We are all so proud of our gymnasts and how well they competed at the regional Future Stars evaluation,” says Amy Nelson, President of Aim High Academy.  She adds, “Our coaches work really hard to develop and enhance each gymnasts’ skills and strength, but it is the boys that do the real work; striving for their dreams!”
