1-800-PACK-RAT to help KaBOOM! build D.C. youth playground in one day

Oct. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- WASHINGTON, D.C., October 23rd— 1-800-PACK-RAT will partner with non-profit KaBOOM! to help build a playground in less than 8 hours.  1-800-PACK-RAT will provide 5 portable storage containers to KaBOOM!  The playground is for the children at Hyde Leadership Public Charter School, sponsored by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

KaBOOM! will use the donated Pack-Rat Containers to store tools and equipment for the build.  The new playground will be fully assembled and installed in less than eight hours. Volunteers will gather for a kickoff ceremony at 8:30 a.m. on a vacant lot and will complete the playground project in time for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m.

Planning for the playground began at a Design Day event held in August when local children and community leaders met with organizers from KaBOOM! and the Knight Foundation to design their dream playground. The children's drawings were then used to create the final playground design.  

This will be the 1,894th build KaBOOM! has led over the past 14 years, and is one of 13 to be built by KaBOOM! and the Knight Foundation this year.
