Oct. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Littleton, CO – Dryer vent cleaning is the best way to eliminate a fire hazard, increase dryer efficiency, and reduce energy used by one of the most expensive appliances to operate.  Clothes dryers are among the most likely appliances to cause a fire, but the real problem is not with the dryer itself; it’s the dryer vent system.

Mitchell Chesney is a certified dryer exhaust technician and owner of Dryer Vent Wizard, a dryer vent installation company that educates consumers while providing an essential service.

“I have noticed that a lot of people think it is normal for an older dryer to start taking longer to dry clothes,” said Chesney.  “Few people are aware that increased drying time indicates a need for dryer vent cleaning service.  If left unchecked, clogged dryer vents can cause overheating and eventually lead to a dryer fire.”

Mitchell Chesney provides the following warning signs of an air flow blockage in a dryer vent system:

•   Increased drying time – this is the most common sign of lint build-up and reduced air flow

•   Hot dryer – If the top of the dryer is hot to the touch when it is running, then it is likely that lint has built up in the dryer vents, reducing air flow

•   Increased heat and humidity – It is not normal for the laundry room to be excessively hot and humid when the dryer is running.  Proper air flow and a clean dryer vent system should be sending the heat and humidity to the vent outdoors

•   Hot laundry – Laundry should not be hot to the touch after a complete dry cycle

•   Musty smelling laundry – If clothes come out of the dryer with a musty smell, then there is a blockage in the dryer vent system

•   No visible exhaust – When the dryer is running, you should clearly see exhaust coming out of it.  If the vent is not opening and allowing steam to escape, then the system is blocked

•   Little or No Lint – The lint filter should be cleaned after every load of laundry.  If you are getting very little or no lint on the screen, then the dryer vent system is blocked.

“Rarely do any of these symptoms indicate the need to buy a new dryer,” said Chesney.  “Clothes dryers don’t require much to operate efficiently. Air flow is the most important function of the clothes dryer.  Most dryer ailments are cured with dryer vent cleaning service.”

Dryer Vent Wizard technicians are happy to provide a very important service while they educate their customers on the importance of dryer vent cleaning and proper installation.  They guarantee a complete service, addressing all issues relating to the dryer vent system.  Visit http://www.codryervent.com to learn more.
