Oct. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- Monica Van Cleve, 24, was named a Finalist in the Best Young Entrepreneur category in the 7th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

The Stevie Awards for Women in Business honor women executives, entrepreneurs, and the companies they run – worldwide.  The Stevie Awards have been hailed as the world’s premier business awards.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word “crowned,” winners will be announced during a gala event at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York on Friday, November 12.  Nominated women executives and entrepreneurs from the U.S.A and several other countries are expected to attend.   The presentations will be broadcast live on radio in the U.S.A. by the Business TalkRadio Network.

More than 1,200 entries – a record for the competition - were submitted this year for consideration in 54 categories, including Best Executive, Best Entrepreneur, and Best Community Involvement Program.  Monica Van Cleve is a Finalist in the Best Young Entrepreneur category.

Monica grew up working in her mother’s restaurant business in Spotsylvania, VA.  In charge of marketing, she quickly realized a need for a better way to promote the business.  She envisioned a marketing tool that allowed restaurants to show off their menu while keeping the restaurant it in the forefront of customer’s minds.  It was then that her magnetized, menu-only guide was born.  After graduating from Clemson University in 2008 with a degree in Chinese and International Trade, Monica spent two years building the business foundation before moving it to San Antonio, TX where the first edition was successfully launched.  Although still in its infancy, Let’s Eat Out Menus has become as success.  Plans and work have already begun for edition expansion into other Texas cities.  “With helping my mother and her restaurant for so many years I developed a strong passion for restaurants and really understand the struggles they face, especially in this economy.  You have to stay in front of your customer if you want to succeed and I am passionate about helping them do that.” stated Monica.
Each page is 'menutised', a term Monica coined that includes all consumer-needed information about the restaurant, the menu of the restaurant, and photos of the cuisine. The information is all-inclusive with a detailed user friendly directory in the front making her publication a valuable resource.

Finalists were chosen by business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging.
Members of the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs will select Stevie Award winners from among the Finalists during final judging.

“It was harder than ever to be recognized in the Stevie Awards for Women in Business this year,” said Michael Gallagher, president of the Stevie Awards.  “Receiving a high score from the judges this year illustrates how well many women in business are doing despite the stiff challenges they face.”

“Her accomplishments were earned by her unwavering belief and commitment that Let's Eat Out Menus is a much needed publication and product.  Turns out, she was right.” says co-owner Shelly Van Cleve.
