Brookline College Announces New Opportunity in Nursing to Help Individuals Change Careers

Oct. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Brookline Now Offers Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Baccalaureate Degree Graduates

Phoenix – October 13, 2010 – Brookline College, a multi-campus higher education company headquartered in Phoenix, announced it has begun accepting applications for a bachelor of science in nursing for baccalaureate degree graduates program at its Phoenix campus located at 2445 W. Dunlap Avenue.

The intensive, full-time, approximately 16-month program prepares individuals who already have a bachelor’s degree and required prerequisite courses to prepare for a career as a nurse.  After successfully completing the program, students will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination.

“There are very few programs like this in Arizona and most of them have waiting lists,” said Pamela Randolph, Associate Director of Education for the Arizona State Board of Nursing.  “This program will help increase the proportion of bachelor’s prepared nurses in Arizona. Numerous studies have shown that care provided by bachelor’s prepared nurses is associated with improved health outcomes.”

According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), the latest data show that more than 54,000 qualified applications to professional nursing programs were turned away in 2009 (www.aacn.nche.edu/media/newsreleases/2010/enrollchanges.html).

“We have worked very closely with the Arizona Board of Nursing to develop this accelerated program,” said Dr. Carol Kleinman, Executive Dean of Nursing at Brookline College. “As a nursing educator for the past 30 years, I understand the critical need to educate more nurses, especially those at the bachelor’s level.  With this new Brookline College program, students will have the opportunity to get a top-quality education in one of the most accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs in the Valley.”

“Students will likely come from a wide variety of backgrounds and majors,” said Kleinman.  “This program is for students who always wanted to become a nurse but didn’t, those who are looking for a recession-resistant career or those looking for better advancement opportunities, salaries and benefits.”
