The Moonbeam Children's Book Awards are intended to bring increased recognition to exemplary children's books and their creators, and to support childhood literacy and life-long reading. The Awards recognize and reward the best of these books and bring them to the attention of parents, booksellers, librarians - and to children themselves.
Today I Found God, released July 2010, is a playful story about a boy on a quest to find out why God lets bad things happen. The fast-paced rhymes and whimsical illustrations lead to an ending that is both unexpected and uplifting.
Greg Long wrote the story shortly after he and his wife, a television anchor/reporter, lost their jobs due to the economy. Long says, "I followed the call and put this book on a fast track to publication. Now, three months after its release, Today I Found God wins a 'Gold medal'. We are ecstatic. Our mission at Laugh-A-Long Books is to bring kids closer to Christ. This award will help us on our journey."
Long will be a "featured author" at the Traverse City Children's Book Festival on November 13th, 2010- performing as the "Wacky Word-o-logist"

Long is currently working on his next Christian children's book, Run For a Reason, scheduled for release in Spring 2011.
