NEBFARMPAC Endorses Sen. Cap Dierks in 40th Legislative District

Oct. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- (Lincoln, NE)  The Nebraska Farmers Union’s Political Action Committee, NEBFARMPAC, announced its strong endorsement for Sen. Cap Dierks of Ewing in the 40th Legislative District.  

The NEBFARMPAC Board of Directors unanimously voted to endorse Sen. Cap Dierks after considering his record on farm, rural, education, rural development, and renewable energy issues, and getting input from Farmers Union members and leaders in the 40th Legislative District.  Judy Pulley of Tilden, who serves on the NEBFARMPAC Board of Directors said “To know Cap Dierks is to like and respect him.  He has our best interests at heart.  Our members trust Cap Dierks to make the right decisions in the right way.”  

Gale Lush, NEBFARMPAC President of Wilcox said, “Sen. Cap Dierks knows what issues are important to farmers and rural residents.  Thanks to Sen. Dierks’ ability to get things done in Lincoln on our behalf, Nebraska is now the second leading ethanol producing state in the nation.  Had it not been for his leadership on the passage of LB536, all these new ethanol plants located in rural communities that are bringing all this capital, all these jobs, all this local and state tax revenue, and all this rural economic development would simply not be here.  If voters want to reward public officials for their hard work, dedication, and performance, voters ought to re-elect Sen. Cap Dierks,” said Lush.

John Hansen, NEBFARMPAC Secretary noted that Nebraska Farmers Union has been the leader on agricultural market reforms, corporate farming restrictions, and renewable energy development, especially ethanol and wind energy for many years.  “There is no other State Senator who has done more than Cap Dierks on agricultural market reforms, corporate farming restrictions, rural development, ethanol development, and wind energy development over the last twenty years.  Cap Dierks is able to lead because he knows the issues, knows the process, and has the respect of the players.  When Cap Dierks speaks, people know that he is an honest, no nonsense voice for the people back home.  Time after time, he uses his intelligence, institutional memory, and skill in using the process to put the needs of rural residents on the table so our rural needs and issues are considered in the legislative process,” Hansen said.  

“In the 40th Legislative District, there is a world of difference between the two candidates in the race based on the depth of their understanding of the issues, the legislative process, and the needs of the people back home.  Cap Dierks is the candidate in this race who has deep roots in the District.  He did not just move into the District so he could run for political office.  His values and effectiveness are known through his track record of years of service to his community, local schools, church, and the farm community.  Our state is facing a major budget challenge in the upcoming session of the Legislature.  Now of all times, we need the wise and steady hand of Cap Dierks in his leadership position on the Revenue Committee,” Hansen concluded.
