Oct. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- (Manorville, NY) — For those who have yet to visit the Long Island Game Farm or those who want to go back one more time before the end of the season, now is the time to do so. The Game Farm will be open from now until Columbus Day, Monday, October 11.  Visitors will also be able to take advantage of off-season pricing.

Long Island Game Farm is the ideal destination for those who want to stop somewhere for some family-friendly entertainment while traveling to or coming from the East End of Long Island to partake in autumn-themed activities such as pumpkin picking.  Adults and children alike can see hundreds of animals, including red kangaroos, kinkajous, cougars, Barbados sheep, peacocks and the only lemurs born and bred on Long Island.  The Long Island Game Farm also has various breeds of monkeys, buffalo, colorful parrots, zebras, aoudads, camels, ostrich, alligators and much more.

Visitors can also explore nature trails that lead to places such as “Bambiland,” “The Nursery” and “Old McDonald’s Farmyard.”  They can also pet, cuddle and — unlike most zoos — hand-feed the animals throughout the day. In addition, the Game Farm has alligator shows daily.

For the children, there are carnival-style rides such as the Spinning Teacups, Rio Grande Mini Train and the Antique Carousel.  Pony rides are also available on weekends during the off-season.  Children can also learn about the animals during the Game Farm’s daily Ed-Zoo-Cation program.

Off-season rates are available.  Off-season ticket rates are as follows: $16.45 for adults, $14.45 for senior citizens and for children ages 3-11 and $9.95 for handicapped patrons. Prices do not include tax.  Children under the age of 3 are free.

The Game Farm is open daily through October 11 (10 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. weekends).  After this season, the Game Farm will reopen on April 16, 2011.  Visit www.longislandgamefarm.com for schedule information.
