Sept. 28, 2010 - PRLog -- The producers of Going Green With Ward  Burton are pleased to announce a new series called “Reducing our Carbon Footprint”. With so much news about environmental practices and the impact our way of life has on the environment, Going Green will explore the idea of the carbon footprint.

There are many greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming and climate change. The most abundant green house gas is carbon dioxide, which accounts for approximately 85% of all greenhouse gases. Carbon dioxide is formed when fossil fuels, like gasoline or diesel are burned and emitted into the environment. Factories and cars are the most frequent producers of greenhouse gases. Going Green hosted by award-winning NASCAR racing champ, Ward Burton, will show you how to reduce your impact in emitting these harmful pollutants.

The average American driver contributes more than five tons of climate changing emissions per year in daily work and leisure activities. This continued accumulation of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will result in warmer winters, inundated coastal areas, droughts in arid areas, flooding in wet areas, lost habitat and species extinction, increased intensities of extreme weather events such as hurricanes, and decreased productivity of agricultural land.

Going Green will profile the people and the places changing the way we interact with the environment and reducing our carbon footprint with subtle but important activities. These changes include turning the water off when we are lathering in the shower and walking for small errands instead of driving. By seeking alternative, greener forms of transportation, we can reduce the amount climate-changing pollutants entering our atmosphere.

In this “Going Green” series, we’ll discover methods for reducing global climate change and learn about innovative solutions to prevent climate-changing pollutants from entering our atmosphere. We’ll talk with industry leaders and experts, who will discuss the environmental benefits to shifting toward a green alternative.“Going Green With Ward Burton” identifies and promotes products and services that conserve resources and habitats, minimize ozone depletion and global warming, and promote less waste and toxic pollution.
