Follow on Google News | St. Vincent de Paul Friends of the Poor Walk to help Seattle & Washington Needy Saturday 9/25201 locations in the US are hosting St. Vincent de Paul Friends of the Poor Walks on or around September 25 to raise funds to help to neighbors in need facing hard times. Four Washington Walks take place in Burien, Everett, Tacoma and Sequim (9/26).
By: Society of St. Vincent de Paul The Seattle/King County location will feature Tony Ventrella, Seattle Seahawks Digital Media Host, and Tom Kobayashi of Seattle, the longest serving St. Vincent de Paul volunteer in the nation—74 years helping the needy. Participants will enjoy music, barbecue and get some exercise. All proceeds will go 100% to help prevent eviction, hunger, utility shut-off and more. Seattle online shirt maker Prep Sportswear has donated 1,000 Friends of the Poor T-shirts for attendees. St. Vincent de Paul is known for its 100 all-volunteer groups in Western WA that make home visits to assess needs and intervene to help a family or individual in crisis. St. Vincent de Paul also runs food banks, food pantries, meal programs, a case management program, thrift stores and other assistance programs. The 2-1-1 Community Information Line refers more people to St. Vincent de Paul than to any other agency in Seattle/King County. Walk locations in Washington: • Seattle/King County: John F. Kennedy Catholic High School Track, 140 S. 140th Burien WA 9/25 9am - noon • Tacoma/South Sound: Grey Middle School 6229 S. Tyler St. Tacoma 9/25 11am – 1pm • Everett/North Sound: Archbishop Murphy High School Field, 12911 39th Ave. SE 9/25 9am – noon • Sequim/Olympic Peninsula: Sequim Senior High Track, 3rd and Fir, Sequim 9/26 1pm – 4pm (this is on Sunday) “Everyone can make a difference.
