Sept. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Boca Raton, Fla., - September 21, 2010 – Bluegreen Corporation , a leading provider of Colorful Places to Live and Play, today announced its participation in the 2010-2011 BizTown program at Junior Achievement of South Florida, Inc. offered at the JA World Huizenga Center at Broward College in Coconut Creek, Florida. JA BizTown offers a real-world working environment for students and is set up to resemble a real town with a real business-centric economy.

The JA Biztown program is mandated curriculum in Broward County for every fifth grader in the public school system. Junior Achievement expects approximately 20,000 students to attend the JA BizTown Program this year. Students participate in about 20 hours of curriculum before their visit that leads students through basic business principles, career opportunities, banking, and economic terms. The goal is to allow students to become familiar with economic terms through a hands-on experience of running a business and acting as a consumer. While in Biztown, students operate and patronize various businesses “earn” a paycheck for use during their day at JA BizTown. During scheduled breaks, students deposit their paychecks with deposit slips similar to the real world and use their earnings to “go shopping” and “purchase” items, like fictitious Bluegreen vacations offered by Bluegreen’s timeshare resorts.

“Having a company like Bluegreen Corporation is exciting because last year, many people commented that this is Florida, one of the central vacation destinations in the country, so where are the hospitality businesses?” said Melissa Aiello, President of Junior Achievement of South Florida. “Bluegreen will bring an element which is so much a part of our local economy, as well as a great reputation and a great product.”

JA is a non-profit organization that provides a series of business, economics, free enterprise and life-skill programs to enhance the education of young people. In the 2010 school year, JA reached 45,000 students and approximately seven million students a year globally. The core purpose of Junior Achievement (JA) is to inspire and prepare young people for success in a global economy.
