Terrell, Texas (September 16, 2010) - Thrillvania is stepping up to help families get their scream on this Halloween season.   With the economy not improving and many families forced to cut back on “the extras” the producers of Thrillvania are extending their popular Scare Stimulus for the opening weekend.

Families of the unemployed, as well as military families and those overworked civil servants such as firefighters and police can receive complimentary tickets this opening weekend; Friday and Saturday, September 24 – 25.

Thrillvania Thrill Park will open to the public Sept. 24th at 7:30 p.m.   In order to qualify for the free entrance, guests will be asked to show their Military ID Card, public safety ID card or a check stub from the unemployment office.   Each guest who shows any of the above will receive free access for themselves and their entire family.    The Scare Stimulus is only valid on the opening weekend.

“This has been a tough year for a lot of families,” said Sue Pope, owner of Thrillvania. “Many simply cannot afford to purchase tickets for their entire family.  This is our way of giving these families a break, even if for just one night.”

Thrillvania is housed on almost 50 acres and will take at least two hours to experience the entire park, it’s sure to be a night of pure terror!

America’s Best Haunts has named Thrillvania Thrill Park one of the scariest haunted attractions in the country.  Since 2006, America’s Best Haunts has searched the nation to find the scariest and most innovative haunted attractions.  Each year, a judging panel consisting of experts with more than 100 years of haunting experience, reviews, nominations, and selects the very best of the best in the industry.

Announcing this year’s winners, the panel praised Thrillvania for “…keeping its main characters – Baron Michael Verdun and Lady Cassandra – fresh, with new twists and turns to their frightening history of torture, mutilation, and gore.”  In addition, America’s Best Haunts recognized Thrillvania for innovation, stating, “This year, people in the Dallas area are in for a real horror fest as Thrillvania unveils its new 3-D feature and takes haunted houses to a new level.”

Thrillvania Thrill Park continues to be the most celebrated haunted attraction in the United States.  Over the past five years, Thrillvania has been featured on the Travel Channel, and was selected as the one of the top haunted houses in the nation by MSN, Fangoria, Haunted Attraction Magazine, Readers Digest, and America’s Best Haunts. This October Thrillvania became the first haunted house ever to have a full hour program on the DIY network.

Sue Pope, Thrillvania’s owner, said, “We are very proud to be named one of America’s scariest haunted houses.  America’s Best Haunts is the premier authority on what is scary in our industry.  To be acknowledged once again by this prestigious organization speaks volumes for the work and imagination of our staff, designers, and actors.”

Pope added, “Each year we challenge ourselves to make Thrillvania not only an outstanding attraction, but a memorable event for our fans.  This year, when our fans come out to Thrillvania, they will experience the best in old school scares – but our new 3-D attraction will rock their world.”

Every night from mid-September to the end of October, thousands of people venture onto the 50+ acres of Thrillvania.  While there, visitors come face to face with some of the most fearsome and horrifying characters and scenarios in the haunted house industry.

This year, visitors can explore these terrifying attractions... if they dare:

Voodoo Bayou – Creatures are waiting to give you a very cold reception as you try to find your way around their slimy home, the bayou that surrounds Verdun Manor.
Verdun Manor – If you’re brave enough to survive Voodoo Bayou, and the old cemetery, you will reach the World Famous Verdun Manor. Here, Baron Michael Verdun experimented on unsuspecting travelers, turning them into human/ monster hybrids. Each night he, his wife Cassandra, and their monstrous horde, feasted on human flesh. One stormy night, the local townspeople killed the Baron and Cassandra. However, before he met his demise, he swore vengeance on the entire town. Today, his spirit…and his monsters…still roam the mansion on the hill.

Cassandra’s Labyrinth of Terror in 3-D – Over a century ago, the townspeople rose up to end Lady Cassandra’s reign of terror by capturing and decapitating her.  Unfortunately, they only killed her body.  Her spirit lives on.  Take a terrifying tour of her labyrinth and see vignettes of her bone-chilling past – all new in 3-D this year!

The Maze of Terror – Light, sound and metal come together to disorient and distract you from the horrors around the corner.  Once you’re in, you’ll beg to be let out.
Granny Lupus’ Séance Theater – Bear witness to the spiritual manifestation of Verdun Manor as Granny Lupus invites you into her séance theater.  You will see with your own eyes the terrifying spirits that Granny Lupus calls back from beyond the grave to haunt Verdun Manor.

Six Feet Blunder – Amazing state-of-the-art special effects will take your senses on a journey of terror.  Sit back and conjure up the courage to survive this trip through a funeral home gone terribly wrong.

Dr. Lycan’s Trail of Torment - Dr. Lycan has a little “clinical trial” he wants you to be a part of.  Each year, he sets his monster-human hybrids loose to lure unsuspecting visitors to their demise.

Thorn Hall – Think you are brave? Thorn Hall makes you feel your way through the old Victorian Mansion on the hill.  Experience what goes on when it’s so dark you can’t even seen your hand in front of your face.

Thrillvania general admission is $25.00 - $30.00, with VIP admission available at $35.00 - $40.00 and includes front-of-line-privileges as well as two times through the attraction in a single night.
