Birmingham was the least ‘most cultured city’ in the UK, with just 1,782 “cultured” The research was conducted by http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk as part of a regular tendency to keep an eye on which cities are proving the most popular within certain search criteria. Searches for discounts over the past 6 months made by users to the site were therefore monitored and then broken down into a monthly average; with each city around Britain looked at in terms of its most popular search categories. The top five most cultural cities, based on the number of searches from the area for discounts related to theatres, museums, galleries, arts and collectibles and restaurants averaged per month for the past 6 months, were as follows: 1. Manchester – 300,032* 2. Liverpool – 284, 812 3. Edinburgh – 271,981 4. Bristol – 162,399 5. Brighton – 156,156 (*the average number of searches from the city per month for discounts on http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk relating to museums, theatre, restaurants, arts/collectibles and galleries in the past six months). The study found that restaurant discount codes were the most popularly searched for items in Manchester on the http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk website, whilst on the contrary in Birmingham, takeaway discounts proved to be the most popular discount searched for. Mark Pearson, Chairman of http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, commented on the findings: “Manchester has come along leaps and bounds in terms of the cultural entertainment on offer over the past couple of years; and it appears, according to our research, that this has been well received with inhabitants of the city. Although being ‘cultural’ “pop” culture of today. “It is nice to see that so many people are still interested in going out to visit museums and galleries, especially given how easy it often is to give in to the temptation of staying in with a takeaway and watching a DVD instead of venturing out to take in the culture of the area.” ENDS LINK: http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk For more information, please contact charlotte@10yetis.co.uk EDITORS NOTES Mark Pearson, Chairman of MyVoucherCodes is a regular media contributor regarding online shopping and the credit crunch.
