Sept. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- PROTLAND, Ore., Sept. 8  --  It has been nearly 9 months since a devastating earthquake rocked the small nation of Haiti; however, OCP continues to offer support with its donation of the Haitian Creole-language hymnal, “N ap regle tout bagay an chantan.”

Starting in April of 2010 OCP began working with the Diocese of Orlando, Fl. to bring a new edition of the hymnal to Haiti. Just released from customs in late August, this hymnal will be an important source of strength for the Haitian Church’s efforts of ministry among the people.

“In the days following the earthquake, the foreign journalists were amazed to hear the Haitians singing and praying. This edition of ‘N ap regle tout bagay an chantan’ will permit them to continue to sing and pray as they rebuild their lives, their communities and their country,” said Thomas Wenski, Archbishop of Miami.

The hymnal is comprised of Haitian language (Creole) psalms and hymns, most of which are original-not translated-with Haitian rhythms. Working closely with Archbishop Wenski, OCP commissioned a new edition of the hymnal and printed 25,000 copies at cost. The diocese of Orlando then partnered with Catholic Relief Services to ship the hymnals from Miami to Haiti.

“We’d all heard about the terrible impact of the earthquake in Haiti,” said OCP publisher John Limb. “Part of our mission is to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to all, and to serve the Church through charitable giving. This was a very worthwhile project for OCP to support.”

This is just one of the many projects OCP has sponsored to serve the needs of Catholic world community. OCP gives time and resources to a number of different causes, including their Parish Grant program, which provides over $135,000 in grants to parishes across the United States.
