Robert Braff promotes martial arts for kids

Sept. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- The repetition, details, rhythms, rules, and protocols that are emphasized during class can all aid in the child’s self discipline.

While a child is learning how to restrain an opponent and protect himself, he is also building self confidence in his skill.

Martial arts definitely keeps kids active in a fun environment and builds their coordination and overall fitness level, which will benefit them as they participate in other activities. It is also an activity for kids that is year round versus seasonal and works well for those needing more structure.

Kids can track their individual progress and success as they work up to different levels. Many forms of martial arts have colored belts to mark that progression. Kids often want to work to the next level. They work for their own merits while developing awareness that they are responsible for their actions.

Martial arts classes can help kids focus on their mind and body while learning to respect their strength and technique. These are skills that can be used for a lifetime on a daily basis.

About Robert Braff:

Robert Braff has a PhD and M.S. in asian studies, and is the Grandmaster of Syan-Ru-Do, a style of swordmanship that was founded in 2002. Robert Braff has studied and practiced several styles of karate, including Tae-Kwon-Do, Okinawan Karate, Judo, and Isshin-Ryu, amongst others. Professor Braff also opened his own school of Isshin-Ryu and has taught martial arts at the Mayfield Academy of Self-Defense in 2002. This is where he'd begun his learning in 1967. Dr. Braff has also competed in several competitions and has been inducted into several Hall of Fames
