More accountability for charters is long overdue. Flagler's charter Imagine School at Town Center bucked the statewide trend of declining grades by doing just the opposite. Imagine Principal Lisa O'Grady, credited the school staff's hard work for the jump from D to A, and now, Imagine School at Town Center in Palm Coast, Florida is setting the standards for the Flagler County Community, in “Green Schools” and is well on the way to receiving the Economic Sustainability Award by shrinking it’s Carbon Footprint. No school should be judged on a single year's results; however the 2009-2010, 1 year Pilot Recycling Program, was a proven success, resulting in an extended contract with the Leading Waste Professionals- The twist is, this all started with a student’s dream to help his school “Go Green”. In an effort to raise Environmental Awareness and set an example for his peers, 12-Year-Old, A-B Honor, Community & Environmental Activist; Mario Ridgley Jr., known as ECO JR., recently teamed up with these companies to start his school’s first Recycling Program. Mario Jr. made sure to add Fun for the Students into his plan, while being sure the school received yearly Certificates to acknowledge achievement levels towards its Task Force Economic Sustainability Goals through Reducing School Costs with a “Go Green” campaign. After speaking to Mario Jr., understanding ISTC Six Measurements of Excellence, the passion of SGA and pure desire of the ISTC Students to be involved in school and community improvement, Waste Pro offered yearly Recycling Tutorial Assemblies for the Student of ISTC with field supervisor Mr. Tom Wiley, supplied ISTC with a Recycling DVD for an in class Fundamental Alternative and host class pizza parties twice yearly for students that excelle in school based recycling incentives. This Pilot Recycle Program is a first for Waste Pro; However it lines right up for Waste Pro’s “Blue Sky, Green Earth” Program. Way To Go ECO JR.!!!!!
