Dr. Leighton Brooks Joins Child & Family Psychology Staff

Sept. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- Dr. Renee Clauselle, a practicing child psychologist with a private practice in Franklin Square, New York, has announced that Dr. Leighton Brooks, a child psychiatrist, has joined the staff of Child & Family Psychology. With a background in both Pediatrics and Child Psychiatry, Dr. Brooks will work with Dr. Clauselle to provide comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health evaluations for children and adolescents. As a child psychiatrist, Dr. Brooks will assess children’s medical and nutritional needs to enhance behavioral health.

Prior to joining Child & Family Psychology, Dr. Brooks opened Comprehensive Health Associates in Lauderhill, Florida, where he provided comprehensive mental health care for children, adolescents and adults residing in the Broward County area. He was also President and Mental Health Consultant for New Directions Institute, also located in Lauderhill, Florida.

After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and his doctorate from Howard University in Washington, D.C., Dr. Brooks performed his general pediatric residency training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York.

Upon completion of his training, he worked as a general pediatric attending physician at St. Luke’s/Roosevelt Hospital Center in Manhattan. He later worked in the pediatric emergency room at the Harlem Hospital Trauma Center, where he also completed his residency and fellowship training in both General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

A resident of New York City, Dr. Brooks is licensed to practice medicine in New York and Florida. He is Board eligible in Pediatrics, General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is affiliated with the American Medical Association. In 2006, he was also the Facilitator and Group Leader of Columbia University’s Headstart program and CARING (Children At Risk: Integration for the New Generation) program.
