Thetford Center, August 10 - Gus Jaccaci of Thetford Center, Independent candidate for the US House, dressed in colonial era green garb as Ethan Allen’s youngest brother, Ira Allen, in a public forum at the Community Center building, challenged the Thetford Development Review Board, “I do not mean to be insulting, but you folks have no right, no earthly right, to regulate public art such as our beloved Vermontasaurus.  Human creativity and spirituality as art cannot and should not be regulated by agents of the government or the civil law.  It is worse than the Duke of Sforza destroying Leonardo da Vinci’s 32 foot tall glorious bronze horse and melting down the bronze to make it into canons for his ill-begotten local army.”
“You are dragging the whole town through a needless disgrace to Thetford and to the free state of Vermont.”
As an aside to neighbors, Ira Allen went on to say, “At this rate of increased regulation, soon we will be issuing driver’s licenses to cows crossing roads from the pasture to the barn for the evening milking.”
“I get it,” said Selectman Mike Pomeroy to Jaccaci after the meeting.  “You are GUS FOR US!”
