2010 US Open Sand Castle Competition Draws 300,000+ Visitors to Imperial Beach

Aug. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- The weather for the 2010 US Open Sand Castle Competition could not have been better for the over 300,000 visitors, builders and vendors who came out to see some of the best sand scultors in the world showcase their skills in Imperial Beach California.

The "IB Posse" and other sand castle groups once again used their creativity and current events to determine some of the sand creations which included a "Clean Up Your Mess" castle talking about the gulf oil spill by BP Petroleum.

Other sand castles included Merlin the Magician, dragons, castles, animals and a host of other creative ideas.

The US Open Sand Castle Compeition celebrated its 30th year to a packed beach of people and also included live music and over 100 street vendors offering a wide array of food, drinks and items for sale.

"This is one of the best beach events in Southern California and the world", stated SoCal Beaches Magazine publisher Sean Callahan who attended the event. "It is a great venue for kids, families and couples to get outdoors and get some sunshine while enjoying great food, music and of course amazing sand castles".

The event ended about about 4PM when the high tide came in and washed away the days sand sculptures.
