Aug. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Although it got off to a late start, summer has arrived in Southern California and with it, the scorching temperatures that drive many to seek cooler alternatives for weekends and holidays.  If your budget or schedule won’t allow for an island escape and you can’t stand facing the crowds at LA or Orange County beaches, raise your expectations—to 5000 feet—and visit Lake Arrowhead Village.

Temperatures in Lake Arrowhead Village are typically ten to twenty degrees cooler than those in the Inland Empire and San Gabriel Valley.  Just a  short drive from the desert floor of San Bernardino, the trip to Lake Arrowhead Village spares you about one degree for every mile you travel up the easy-to-drive Rim of the World Highway.

Lake Arrowhead Village offers something for everyone.  Book a romantic night or weekend for two at the Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa, and dine on seasonal specialties and choice wines at Bin 189. Or bring the whole family and enjoy shopping, casual dining, games and rides, and live entertainment.

Lake Arrowhead Village’s Summer Entertainment Series brings the best in top names, local acts, tribute bands and family-friendly comedy to the mountain each Friday and Saturday night through Labor Day.  And just like the parking, the shows are always free.

If you haven’t visited Lake Arrowhead Village in a while, you’ll want to check out all the new merchants.  In addition to the boutiques, shops and outlet stores that attract visitors to Lake Arrowhead Village, there are now two new art galleries, a salon and a new women’s boutique.  Mountain Arts Gallery showcases the work of local artists and D Gallery features the work of cross sculpture artist Daniel Gerken as well as other artists.   Expression Women’s Boutique, located near Center Stage, features the latest styles, and Rumors Salon, on the lower level, brings artistry to hair and nails.

Also try the Village’s newest restaurant, California Thai Cuisine, located next to Center Stage and look for a nightclub to open by summer’s end.

Of course, the things you have always loved about Lake Arrowhead Village are still there:  plenty of lakefront dining options for every budget and taste; go-carts and rides for the kids; sweet treats and snacks; and tours of beautiful Lake Arrowhead aboard the Arrowhead Queen.  All in a cool alpine lake setting you won’t find anywhere else.

Give your A/C the day off and make the short drive to another world; a much cooler world.
