Lexington Healing Arts Academy Recognizes National Yoga Month with Many Reduced Yoga Classes

Lexington Healing Arts Academy recognizes September as National Yoga Month by offering $5 yoga classes from August 16-October 2. These Beginner classes will be led by Yoga Teacher Training interns preparing to graduate from the school.

July 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Lexington Healing Arts Academy’s (LHAA) second class of Yoga Teacher Training students will offer five dollar Yoga classes from August 16-October 2. These reduced rate classes are also part of LHAA’s celebration of September being named National Yoga Month by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.

These classes are part of the students’ internship program.  Classes are scheduled daily and will be Beginner level.  They will be one hour in length and consist of basic breathing exercises, asanas, and relaxation/restorative poses.  The focus will be on guiding the student toward more optimal breathing from the diaphragm, safe execution of the postures offered with assistance when needed, and poses to relax and rejuvenate.

This is a great opportunity for the curious to the regular practitioner to experience Yoga and meet future instructors in our community.  Yoga adds to the quality of life by improving flexibility and strength, enhancing memory and attention spans, and increasing energy, self-acceptance and self-actualization to name just a few physiological and psychological benefits.  Our regular Yoga classes, led by our accomplished instructors, will also be held at their regular scheduled times.

LHAA began their first Yoga Teacher Training program in October, 2008.  This current class will graduate in October 2010.  The 200-Hour program includes 180 classroom hours and 20 hours of internship leading Yoga classes.  Amanda McMaine E-RYT is the Director of the program.

LHAA opened its doors in 1999 as a Massage Therapy School and Clinic and this year marks their 10th year of operation.  To date, more than 550 students have graduated from the Massage Therapy Certificate program.  In April 2008 LHAA expanded the campus to incorporate a new classroom building adjacent to the Clinic.  The school continues to grow with the addition of a new Personal Fitness Training program.  In addition to the certificate programs, LHAA offers daily Yoga classes, a Massage Clinic with student, graduate and professional therapists, and continuing education classes for the professional and holistic classes for the public.  LHAA is located at 272 Southland Drive.
