Lots of times these homemade toys will become a family heirloom.  Myself and my brothers still have the old rocking horse dad made for us. It will be passed on to my nephew,  so good quality workmanship can really look nice 2 or 3 generations later.  A lot of simple wooden toy plans are a must for me, as I seem to have to see something first, to then put my own twist on it and build it.
