Vere Software Returns to Massachusetts Attorney General's Office

July 19, 2010 - PRLog -- Reno, NV — Investigators and attorneys with the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office are receiving a two-day course on Internet investigations. The two-day course, taught by Vere Software president and CEO Todd Shipley, covers detection and prevention of Internet-based crimes, social networking sites, bulletin boards and newsgroups, instant messaging and chat, and undercover operations, along with how to use Vere Software's WebCase Internet evidence collection tool.

The training comes three months after Shipley's first visit to the AG's office, in which he presented a lecture to prosecutors, investigators and school resource officers about social networking's place in a criminal inquiry. The lecture was part of Attorney General Martha Coakley's quarterly Cyber Crime Initiative Training.

“We are pleased to have been asked to return to the Massachusetts AG's Office to train their investigators on our software WebCase,” said Shipley. “Not only will we cover the fundamentals behind the social networking sites we discussed last spring, we'll be able to show how WebCase  supports investigators' evidence collection from social networking and other Internet sources.”

The Attorney General's Office is responsible for community safety, consumer protection, and business legal support, among other fields. All can involve Internet-based investigation to some degree, especially with regard to cyberbullying and stalking, identity theft, certain types of fraud, and Internet crimes against children.
