Downloading Videos to Enhance Your Marketing Campaign

To download a video off the internet from any site to then use it to upload it onto a video site like YouTube.com here’s what you need to do

July 11, 2010 - PRLog -- 1.   Go to Google.com or any other search engine and download “Download Helper”

2.   Follow the installation instructions to install it on your computer.  Once this is done, you will notice that it becomes a little icon somewhere in your toolbar that spins whenever you access something on the internet that has the potential to be downloaded.  It is a yellow, red and blue icon.

3.   When you are in a video or watching something that you want to download for your personal use (remember copyright issues!) what you do is click on the icon when you see it spinning and it will show a code.

4.   Sit your cursor on that code and it should extend out to the right with some options as to what you want to do,  i.e. “download”, “download and convert” etc.

5.   You want to select “download and convert” as this will then convert the item into your preferred video player on your computer- you may need to set this up on the first download.  I set mine to WMV-Windows Media, but you can use Real Player etc.

6.   Save it to a place you will remember on your computer, it could be on your desktop initially to be moved later into a folder set up for Videos, or save it straight into a folder.

7.   Once it has downloaded, it will come up with a black and white window which means it is converting, so let it do that and then you are done!

8.   Then you can use a movie maker on your computer to make your own video-like Windows Movie Maker and then publish it and upload it to YouTube.com or Viddler.com or any other video site.

9.   Have fun making your creations!

This is very useful if you have an online business and want to market using videos.  If you have a video you like that has been made by a friend or you have found content of a video useful and would like to make use of it, just remember there are copyright laws and plagiarism laws so I suggest you are very mindful of this.
