July 11, 2010 - PRLog -- The man-heel — or called “meel” as some have termed it — is simultaneously a new trend in several fashion brands. And it seems like as women's shoes are getting higher, men's shoes are also adding on a few inches. The first examples were found in the semi-Goth, semi-glam society, high-fashion menswear or the pioneers back in the 60’s. Marc Jacobs (born April 9, 1963) is an American fashion designer and the head designer for Marc Jacobs, as well as the diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs. Jacobs is currently the Creative Director of the French design house Louis Vuitton. Whatever Marc Jacobs touches turns into gold. We know about Marc Jacobs wearing his skirts around, but it seems as though his high heel wearing is the trend that is really taking off. It has been popping up left and right on the runway, but it isn’t officially sparked until it hits the streets. Recently was snapped a shot this guy rocking his black heels on the streets of London. Apparently he isn’t the only one doing it either. London has sprouted an array of heels loving guys who apparently need a little height added on..I say why not? Looks good! Feels good ! I don’t really see it as unusual. Platform shoes were big back in the 60′s and even the men were wearing thick heels. It’s going to be tough for the people who are the real trendsetters to kick this one off, but I definitely can see this happening again. For the first time since Glam Rock peaked three decades ago, men of average height are discovering the delights of a few extra inches. Well-heeled shoes of all types, from craftily sized “status” shoes to 21st century platforms, are enjoying a new vogue. Men in high heels are becoming more common because shoes are becoming important now, even for men. Your average, every day Joe now cares what his shoes look like so much that he will go to a special store and drop more money than he did on his Nike Jordan's in the 1980s. Shoes are in for men, because most men are learning that shoes are part of the overall look, something women have known for years. Style is becoming more and more important, and shoes are a big part of style now, even for men so the high heel rules for both men and women right now.
